We are up on the third floor of the Gitanjali Complex on Palace Road. It’s an old building but it has character. The stairs can be a bit much if you aren’t used to them, but we do it several times a day. We deal with a lot of trading goods and the office is often filled with samples and ledgers. Palace Road is one of those places that never really sleeps. You can hear the market down below even when the windows are shut. We’ve been here for quite some time now. Our desks are a bit cluttered with notes and old pens. It’s not a polished showroom, just a place where real work gets done. We spend a lot of time talking to suppliers and checking the items that come in. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish the books when the market is busy. There’s always a faint smell of paper and tea in the air. We know the other tenants in the complex and we often share news in the hallway. It’s a very local way of doing business. We don’t bother with fancy technology if the old ways still work. People know they can find us here if they need something. We just take it one order at a time and try to stay organized in our own way. We keep a stash of biscuits for the afternoon slump. Most people just walk in without calling first and that is fine with us.
