B B Patel Cement Works. We are based out in Village Iqbalgadh. If you are driving on National Highway 14, you can’t really miss the turn-off near the APMC market. Banaskantha is a big area, so we get people coming from all over for their cement needs. We do all sorts of work here. Mostly it’s just casting things in the yard. The noise from the highway is constant, but you get used to it after a while. I started this because my father did similar work, and it just felt right to keep it going. We aren’t a big company with suits and meetings. It’s mostly just me and a few local guys who know how to handle the mix. Sometimes the sand we get isn't quite right, so we have to adjust things on the fly. It’s a lot of manual labor, moving heavy blocks and making sure the water ratio is okay so things don't crack. The market nearby means there’s always trucks moving around, which helps when we need to ship stuff out to other villages. We keep our tools in a small locker at the back of the property. It’s messy, sure, but that’s what happens when you work with wet cement all day long. We try to keep things moving so we don't fall behind on what people need for their houses or small shops. It’s honest work and we’ve been at it for a good bit now.
