You can find Vasantha Kumar Steels over at 355/138 on Usilai Road in Tirumangalam. It’s a pretty busy road with a lot of local traffic passing by all the time. Our building is mostly a big storage area for all the steel we handle. It’s heavy work, and our hands are usually covered in some kind of grime or rust by the end of the shift. We don't have a lot of room for a proper office, so the desk is basically right in the middle of everything. We spend a lot of time on the phone or talking to people who drive up to see what we have in stock. The heat in Tirumangalam can be quite something, and the metal really holds onto that warmth. We drink a lot of water and try to stay in the shade when we can. It’s a simple operation with just a few of us making sure the loads are balanced and the tallies are correct. We don't have any big corporate systems, just some old notebooks and a calculator that has seen better days. It’s an honest way to spend the day, even if it’s physically tiring.
