P. T. N. Rajen Store

Usilai Road is always busy. P. T. N. Rajen Store has been here in Tirumangalam for a long time. We open the doors early when the sun is just coming up. There is a lot of noise from the buses going to Madurai. It gets hot inside during the afternoon so we keep the fans running. Most people come in to grab something quick on their way home. We have rows of things like soap and snacks and small items for the kitchen. Sometimes the inventory gets a bit messy but we know where everything is. It is a simple place. My father used to help here too. We spend most of the day talking to the regulars who live around Usilai Road. They tell us about their families and we share news about the town. It is not a fancy place with bright lights or anything like that. Just a shop where you can get what you need without much fuss. We try to keep the shelves full but sometimes things run out before the next truck arrives. That is just how it goes. People in Tirumangalam are hardworking and we like being part of the neighborhood. We stay open until late evening. The streetlights outside are a bit dim but everyone knows where we are. We just keep doing our work every day. It feels right to be a part of this community. We see the seasons change from this doorstep.
