Akvi Rice

Over at 47, Shakti Nagar, you will find Akvi Rice. We handle a lot of grain here in Oddanchatram. It is mostly about moving heavy bags from one spot to another. The air usually smells like raw rice and dust, which is just part of the job. We have different kinds of rice stacked up against the walls. Some are in big plastic bags and others are in jute. It gets pretty hot in the afternoons, so we keep the big doors open to catch any breeze. Customers come in looking for specific bags they have bought for years. We know most of them by face. We are not really big on fancy office stuff. There is a desk in the corner where we keep the receipts and a pen that usually runs out of ink. Sometimes the delivery trucks are late and that throws everything off, but we just deal with it. It’s a steady kind of life. We focus on making sure the bags are dry and the quality is okay before they go out. Oddanchatram is a busy place for this kind of work. We have been at this Shakti Nagar spot for a good bit of time now. Nothing too complicated about it. We just sell rice to whoever needs it, whether it’s a family or a small restaurant. The floor is always a bit dusty from the grain, but that is just how a rice shop is.
