Sai Iron & Steel

Our place, Sai Iron & Steel, is located out in Babhandih Village, which is part of the Hariharganj Block in Palamu District. It is a quiet spot mostly, but things get busy when the trucks roll in with new stock. We spend a lot of our time out in the yard moving heavy iron rods and steel sheets around. The weather here in Palamu can get really hot during the summer months, and that metal gets almost too warm to touch by mid-afternoon. We usually try to get the heavy loading done early in the morning before the sun really starts beating down on the village. It is just a regular local operation where we keep track of everything in big ledgers. Sometimes the dust from the road gets everywhere, so we are constantly dusting off the desk in the small office area. People from around the block stop by when they are building something new or fixing up a fence. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It is just a practical space filled with metal and the sound of trucks. Sometimes the neighbors come by just to chat for a bit while we are waiting for a delivery. We have been here for a while now and most people know where to find us if they need some steel for a project. It is hard work and our clothes usually end up pretty dirty by the end of the day.
