About Rabbit Mark Modern Rice Mills – Food & Beverages in Palakkad
Pallavoor is where you’ll find us, right in the Nemmara area where the fields seem to go on forever. The mill itself has been a fixture here for quite some time, and you can see the 'Rabbit Mark' sign from a little way down the road. It’s a noisy place once the engines start up in the morning, a constant humming that you eventually just stop hearing after a few hours. The air inside stays warm because of the machinery, and there’s always a fine layer of husk dust on everything. We spend a lot of our time checking the grain and making sure the bags are stitched up tight. It’s a lot of manual labor, lifting and stacking until your back starts to protest a bit. Most of the people working here live nearby, so we all know each other’s families and what’s going on in the village. On rainy days, the sound on the metal roof is so loud you have to shout to be heard over it. We don't have much in the way of decoration, just some old calendars on the wall and a place to keep our water bottles cool. The trucks come in from the fields, dusty and loaded down, and then they leave again with the finished bags piled high. It’s a simple cycle that repeats every season. We just try to keep the machines running smooth and the yard clear enough for people to turn their vehicles around without hitting anything.
