If you’re looking for Iqrah Foods, we’re tucked away in Chunnambuthara. Most people use the Ayurveda medical shop nearby as a landmark because it’s easier to find than our actual door. We spend most of our time in the back where all the food gets sorted and packed. It’s a bit cramped inside because we have so many boxes stacked up everywhere. There’s always someone moving something or a delivery truck trying to back into the narrow space outside. Olavakode can get quite busy, especially in the mornings when the market nearby is in full swing. We usually start before the sun is up to get a head start on the orders. The air usually smells like spices or whatever we happen to be handling that day. Sometimes we make mistakes with the labeling, and we have to sit there and fix them by hand, which takes forever. My brother helps out, and we have a couple of guys who’ve been with us since the start. We don't have a website or any of that stuff. If someone wants something, they usually just call or walk in. The walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but we’re too busy to get around to it. It's a lot of physical work, lifting heavy bags and making sure everything is clean. It's just a small food business trying to keep up with things. We stay open late most nights just to finish the daily tally.
