We are based over in Seijosa, specifically around Dikalmukh if you know the area. Our office, if you can even call it that, is set up at Takum Nabum’s place. It’s not some big glass building, just a regular spot where we meet up to talk about the crops. Being in East Kameng, we deal with the weather more than anything else. Some days it’s just about getting the seeds in the ground and hoping the rain doesn’t wash everything away. We started this producer company because a few of us realized that doing everything on your own is just too hard these days. We mostly focus on organic stuff, mostly because that’s what our parents did and it seems to work okay for the soil here in Arunachal Pradesh. It’s a lot of work, honestly. Between the actual farming and the paperwork that comes with being a registered company, there’s never a quiet day. We spend a lot of time just talking to the other farmers in the group, making sure everyone is on the same page about what needs to be done for the season. You’ll usually find someone sitting out front of the house talking about the price of goods or how the transport is going to work this month. It’s just us, trying to make a living off the land without making things too complicated. We don’t have any fancy machines or big posters, just our tools and the land.
