Variety Store

Up here at Zanda Chowk in the Pakaur district, we have the Variety Store. We are in the Doranda area, not too far from Amrapara. As the name says, we sell a bit of everything. It’s the kind of shop where you can find a replacement bucket, some stationery for the kids, or even basic kitchen items. Zanda Chowk is a busy intersection, so there is always something happening outside our door. We get people coming in from all over the district, especially those traveling from Amrapara who need to pick up supplies. The shop is a bit cluttered because we try to fit so many different types of goods into one space. I spend a lot of my time just restocking things and making sure the prices are marked clearly, though sometimes the tags fall off. We don't have a computer system to track everything; we just know where things are by memory. It’s a simple life here in Doranda. The shop doesn't have any bright neon lights or fancy glass displays. It’s just a solid place with heavy wooden doors that we pull shut every night. We don't promise anything special, we just keep the shelves full of the things people in Pakaur need for their daily lives. It’s a practical business and it suits the neighborhood just fine. We keep a plastic chair near the entrance where I sit when there are no customers to attend to.
