Ghatagaon Rice Mill

Down on Gabiakhola Road in Khambaguda, you’ll find us at the Ghatagaon Rice Mill. We’re part of the Gunupur Tahsil area, and it’s a place that’s deeply tied to the land. The mill is usually humming with the sound of the machines processing the grain. It’s a dusty job, and the smell of raw rice is everywhere, which I’ve grown to like over the years. We see a lot of local farmers coming through with their harvests. It’s a busy cycle that depends entirely on the seasons. When the harvest is in, we’re working around the clock to keep up. Other times, it’s a bit quieter and we spend our days maintaining the equipment and cleaning out the bins. The road outside can get a bit muddy when it rains, making it a challenge for the carts and trucks to get in. We aren't some big corporate facility; we’re just a local mill trying to do right by the people who bring us their crops. We know most of the faces that come through the gates. It’s about more than just the rice; it’s about the community here in Gunupur. We take the grain, process it, and get it ready for people’s tables. It’s basic, essential work, and it feels good to be part of that process. The machinery is old but reliable, much like the way we try to run things here every single day.
