B. L. B Bakery

If you walk down Jamner Road and get near Sai Nath Marble, you’ll probably smell the bread before you see our sign. B. L. B Bakery is a small place, and it gets really hot inside when the ovens are running full blast. We start very early in the morning, long before the sun is even up, so that everything is fresh when people start heading to work. There is always flour on the floor and on our aprons. We make a variety of things, from simple loaves to some sweeter buns and biscuits. It is a lot of kneading and waiting for dough to rise. Sometimes a batch doesn't come out exactly how we wanted, maybe the crust is a bit too dark, but that’s the nature of baking. We sell most of what we make by the end of the day. Our customers are mostly locals who live just a few streets away. They like that they can get something warm right out of the oven. We don't have fancy displays; we just put the stuff out on the counters. It’s a tiring job because you’re on your feet all day, but it feels good to feed the neighborhood. We just keep doing what we know how to do, day after day, without making it too complicated.
