Neeledath Bricks

People usually find us down Kundukandam Road in Mannarkad. It’s a busy spot most mornings. We spend our days dealing with bricks, mostly just moving them from one pile to another or getting them onto trucks for whoever needs them for a wall or a small shed. Neeledath Bricks has been here for a good while now. My hands are usually covered in some kind of red dust by noon, but that is just how the work goes. We don’t have any fancy offices or shiny signs. There is just a lot of space and a lot of bricks. Sometimes the rain slows us down and the ground gets muddy around here, which makes loading the tractors a bit of a headache. Most folks around Mannarkad know where we are because of the stacks you can see from the road. We try to keep things simple. If someone shows up needing a load, we get to work. It is not complicated stuff. We’ve seen a lot of houses go up in the area using what we’ve got here. It makes me feel alright to see a truck drive off full. The heat can get pretty bad in the afternoons, so we usually start early when it’s still cool out. That’s the way we’ve always done it. No one here wears a suit. Just work clothes and boots. We just focus on getting the stacks right and making sure nobody has to wait too long.
