Down in Vill-Jhonta, near the Bairahana post office, is where we operate our power plant. Being in a rural part of Satna means the surroundings are quite green, even if the plant itself is all grey steel. The road leading to our gate is mostly dirt, so your vehicle is bound to get a layer of dust on it. We have a small crew that works in shifts to make sure the power keeps flowing 24 hours a day. It can get very quiet out here at night, but you can see every star in the sky when the sky is clear. Our office is a simple room with a couple of old chairs and a metal cabinet where we keep all the logbooks. We don't really care about how the place looks as long as the equipment is performing correctly. Heavy lifting is part of the daily routine, and sometimes we have to deal with unexpected breakdowns in the middle of the night. During the hottest part of the day, we usually take our lunch break under a big tree outside. Satna is known for its intense summer heat, so we always keep a large clay pot filled with cool water. We are just a regular group of people working in a quiet corner of Madhya Pradesh. There aren't any big speeches or goals here, just the daily task of keeping the lights on.
