This location is a bit different for us because it is up in Bihar, in the Samastipur district. We are based in a village called Bardauni. It is quite a rural area, far away from the big cities. The post office is Barahi and the police station is Bithan. We are working with Kalim Ahmad Karimi here. It is a very simple life in the village. Most of our work involves dealing with the local agriculture and the needs of the people in this part of the country. We do not have a big office building; it is more of a local hub where people can stop by. The pace of life is much slower here than in Orissa. You see cows walking down the road and kids playing in the fields all day. We do not have a lot of high-tech equipment. Mostly, it is just pen and paper and a lot of talking to get things sorted. We have to be flexible because things do not always go according to plan in a place like Bardauni. Sometimes the power is out for hours or the roads are blocked by local events. We just take it as it comes. It is a very grounded way to work. We do not pretend to be some big city corporation. We are just folks working in Samastipur, trying to stay useful to the local community.
