This is Essel Mining & Industries Ltd., which belongs to the Aditya Birla Group. Our main place of work is out in Jilling, right by P.O. Jajang in Keonjhar. It’s a quiet area until you get near the site where all the noise is. We spend most of our time dealing with the minerals and the ground. It’s a long day for most of the crew here. People come from all over the district to work. We don't really do much besides the mining work and keeping the equipment running. Orissa has a lot of these kinds of places, but this one is ours. The pin code is 758205 if anyone is actually trying to mail us something, though most people just show up. It’s a bit dusty and loud, but that is just the nature of the business we are in. We have been sitting here in Jilling for a good bit now. Some of the guys have worked here since they were young. You get used to the rhythm of the machines. There’s no use making it sound like something it isn't. We dig things up and we move them out. The Aditya Birla name is on the sign, but to us, it’s just the place where we earn our keep. It is a big operation with plenty of moving parts and we just try to keep it all steady every single day.
