M/S. Essel Mining & Industries Ltd, Joda, Keonjhar

Our setup is located in the Old AG Colony in Bhubaneswar, specifically at Quarter No. Type-II 86. It’s a quiet enough residential area, but we use it for the mining and industry coordination we do for the Joda and Keonjhar sites. There’s always someone coming in from the mines with boots still a bit dusty, looking for signatures or checking on schedules. The walls in the office are a bit plain, and the furniture has seen better days, but it works for what we need. We handle a lot of the administrative side here so the guys out in the field don’t have to worry about the paperwork as much. Living and working out of a colony house means you know your neighbors and you see the same faces every morning when the tea stall opens up down the road. It’s a bit of a drive to the main markets, but we stay focused on the tasks at hand. The files are stacked high because the mining business involves a lot of documentation and government forms. Sometimes the power goes out during the heavy rains, and we just wait it out with a torch. It’s a simple life here in Orissa. We don't have a big sign outside or anything, just the work going on inside the rooms. Everyone knows where to find us if they need to discuss the Keonjhar operations or the Joda logistics. It’s a practical space for a practical business, and we don't need much else to get by every day.
