Our setup for Smc Power Generation Ltd is located at Hirma in the Jharsuguda district. This is where our Assistant Manager for P & A, Soumendu Mohanty, and the rest of the administrative team are based. It is a busy spot because Hirma is right in the thick of the power generation zone in this part of Orissa. We aren’t really into those big corporate speeches you see on some websites. We are just a group of people working out of an office, trying to keep everything organized. The P & A department handles a lot of the day-to-day stuff that people don't usually see, like payroll and personnel records. It is a lot of sitting at desks and looking at spreadsheets, to be honest. But it is necessary for the plant to run properly. The office in Hirma has a very functional feel to it. There are files everywhere and the printers are usually running all morning. We talk a lot about the heat and when the next rains are coming while we wait for the kettle to boil in the afternoon. It is a local operation through and through. We don't have a lot of fancy business talk here; we just try to get the work done without making any mistakes. If you come by the At/Po-Hirma area, you will see us there, just doing our normal routine. It is a practical place for practical people who have lived in Jharsuguda for years.
