Jindal Stainless Ltd Hisar, Haryana

This is an interesting one because the name is Jindal Stainless Ltd Hisar, Haryana, but we are actually physically located over in Jharsuguda, Orissa. It makes for some long conversations explaining where we are. Jharsuguda is a heavy industrial area, so there is always dust and the sound of machinery in the distance. We are right in the thick of it here. The office is pretty basic, just a place to sit and manage the stainless steel interests from the Haryana side. We spend a lot of our time dealing with the reality of plant life. It’s hot, loud, and there is always something that needs fixing. We don't have any polished corporate stuff here. Our walls are mostly bare except for a few schedules pinned up with tape. We wear work boots more often than dress shoes. The people who work here are tough and they know the metal business inside and out. We don’t talk about missions or visions; we talk about tonnage and transport delays. It’s a lot of grit and honest work. Sometimes we miss the quiet of Hisar, but the action is here in Orissa. We just keep our heads down and make sure the steel keeps moving. It’s not a pretty job, but it’s ours. We’ve got a small kitchen where we make strong coffee and try to stay cool during the afternoon shifts. It is hard work but we get through it.
