The yard here at Januganj gets a lot of dust because we handle so many bags of Lafarge cement every single day. We are located at Bishnu Priya Niwas in Balasore, and it is a busy spot for trucks coming and going. As a carry and forward agency, our main job is just making sure the stock arrives and gets sent out to the right people without too much trouble. The office part of Maitri Enterprises is pretty simple, with some heavy ledgers and a few phones that never seem to stop ringing. We have a crew that handles the loading, and they are usually out in the sun most of the day. Inside, we try to keep track of all the invoices and delivery receipts, which can be a real headache when things get busy during the building season. Orissa gets very hot, and the tin roof on the storage area doesn't help much, but we are used to it by now. We don't really have a fancy website or any marketing people telling us what to say. We just know how to move cement and talk to the drivers. If you come by, you will probably see us drinking tea and arguing about where a truck should park. It is hard work and messy, but it is the kind of business that keeps everything moving in this part of town. We just keep the bags moving.
