M/S Bhushan Steel Limited, Meramandali, Orissa

Working for Bhushan Steel Limited over here in Meramandali can be quite a task sometimes. My name is Madhusudan Majhi and I usually take care of the coordination side. Our contact point is actually near the Bloodbank at the District H.Q. Hospital in Angul. It’s a bit of a weird place to have an office, but it works for us because everyone knows the hospital area. Orissa gets very hot during the summer, so we try to get most of the heavy work done early in the morning. The plant is over in Meramandali, but the administrative stuff often happens right here in Angul. We deal with a lot of steel production and the logistics that go along with it. It’s not a glamorous job at all. Most of the time we are just talking to drivers or checking the inventory lists to see what’s missing. The hospital area is always busy with people coming and going, so there is never a quiet moment. We’ve been doing this for a long time and we know the local area like the back of our hand. It’s a lot of back and forth between the site and the office. We don't have a big corporate feel here, just a group of people trying to keep the steel moving. It’s honest work and we just take it one day at a time. The routine is steady and we just keep pushing through the daily list.
