Utility Powertech Limited

Out here in Kaniha, things move at their own pace. I’m R K Choudhary, and I’ve been working as the deputy manager for Utility Powertech Limited at the NTPC project for a bit. My background is in civil engineering, so I’ve seen my share of concrete and steel. We’re tucked away in this part of Orissa, specifically around the Talcher Super Thermal Power Project. It’s a massive place. My day usually involves walking around the sites and checking on the progress of various utility tasks. It’s not like an office job where you sit in AC all day. It’s humid, and there’s always something that needs fixing or a crew that needs a bit of direction. We stay busy with the technical side of the power plant. The locals in Kaniha are used to the noise and the scale of the operations here. We don’t really have a big marketing team or anything. Most of what we do is just steady, practical work. You learn a lot being on the ground like this. Sometimes the paperwork gets backed up on my desk, but I’d rather be outside anyway. We’ve got a mix of experienced hands and some newer people trying to learn the ropes. It’s a decent living. We just try to keep the operations running smooth without making a big fuss about it. The work is what matters at the end of the day.
