Kwality Button Store

Being at Baldau Chowk means we are right in the middle of all the noise. Kwality Button Store has been here for a while, and we mostly just handle buttons, threads, and small tailoring supplies. You’d be surprised how many different types of buttons there are once you start looking through our boxes. We have drawers and bins lining the walls from the floor right up to the ceiling. Sometimes it takes us a few minutes to find the exact match someone is looking for. The shop isn't very wide, so if more than three people come in at once, it feels very full. Baldau Chowk is always noisy with the rickshaws and people shouting, but inside here it’s a little bit quieter. We spend a lot of time sorting through stock that comes in big plastic sacks. It’s a bit of a dusty job, and our hands often get dirty from the cardboard. The lighting inside isn't the brightest, but we know where every single item is kept by heart. We don’t really do any big advertising or try to be fancy. People just know we are here at KBS. Sometimes the kids from the street come by just to look at all the colorful bins of buttons. We’ve seen the whole area change over the years, with new shops coming and old ones going, but we just keep selling our buttons. It’s a small niche, but it keeps us busy enough throughout the week. Sundays are our only quiet time when the shutters stay down.
