Gurappa Swamy Traders

If you are in Ooty and driving down Coonoor Road, you will find Gurappa Swamy Traders right across from the SM Hospital. Being in the hills means the weather changes fast, and we are used to the cold mornings. Our shop is a busy place, especially since we are on such a main road. We see a lot of foot traffic and vehicles passing by all day. We mostly focus on trading various goods that local people and businesses need. It’s a lot of loading and unloading, often in the mist or rain. The space inside is packed with all sorts of things. We try to keep it organized, but sometimes it feels like we are running out of room. We’ve been at this location for a good amount of time, so most locals know us by sight. We don’t use much in the way of fancy systems. We just keep track of things as they come and go. It can be a bit chaotic when several people want things at once, but we manage. The hospital across the way is a good landmark for people trying to find us. We don’t do much in the way of promotion. We just open the doors in the morning and see who comes in. It’s a simple way to run a business, and it keeps us busy enough. The mountain air is nice, even when we are tired from a long day.
