Sri Shankar Suwan Estate is mostly about managing properties and keeping track of who is where. We spend a lot of time on the phone or driving around to check on different buildings. It’s not always exciting, mostly just making sure the roofs aren't leaking and the taxes are paid on time. We’ve got an office that’s mostly filled with filing cabinets and stacks of folders that we really should organize better one of these days. It’s a family-run kind of thing, so we don't have a lot of formal meetings or corporate policies. We just talk over tea and decide what needs to be done next. Sometimes a tenant has a problem in the middle of the night, and one of us has to go deal with it. It’s just part of the job. We aren't trying to build a massive empire; we just want to keep the properties we have in decent shape. Dealing with paperwork and local regulations takes up a good chunk of the week, which can be a bit of a headache. But we’ve been doing this long enough to know the ropes. We don't make big promises or use fancy brochures. We just show the spaces we have available and let people decide for themselves. It’s a basic business, but it keeps us busy and pays the bills. It's simple work but someone has to do it.
