Our lab is located at number 58 in the GIDC estate in Makarpura. It’s an older part of the industrial estate, so the roads have a few potholes and the trees are quite tall now. Hillton Scientific Lab Pvt Ltd isn't some high-tech glass tower. We’re in a practical, single-story building that we’ve modified over the years to fit all our testing equipment. Inside, it’s a bit of a maze with different rooms for different types of scientific work. We have to keep things very clean, which is a bit of a challenge given how much dust blows in from the estate roads, but we manage. The office part of the building is pretty small. It’s mostly just a few desks piled with technical manuals and test reports. We aren't big on marketing or trying to sound more important than we are. We just take the samples that come in, run the tests, and write down the results. Most of us have been working here for a long time, so we have a rhythm. We know which light switches are finicky and which drawer has the spare pens. In the afternoons, we usually hear the noise from the workshop next door, but it doesn't bother us. We’re just focused on the glass tubes and the monitors in front of us. It’s steady work and it keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday.
