Working as engineers and consultants means we spend half our time in front of drawings and the other half out at sites. We’ve been running H K Consultants & Engineers for a long time now. It started out with just a couple of us and some basic tools. Now we handle more projects, but the way we work hasn't changed that much. We deal with a lot of technical stuff that might seem boring to others, like checking if a structure is solid or where the machines should be placed. There are always piles of blueprints on the desks and pens scattered everywhere. We aren't the type of people to sit in a polished boardroom all day. We’d rather be looking at a problem on the floor and trying to figure out why a machine isn't behaving or how to make a layout more efficient. Sometimes the solutions are simple and sometimes they take a few days of head-scratching. We don't make big promises or use fancy words to describe what we do. It’s mostly about being practical and using what we know about engineering to get a job done. The paperwork can be a bit much at times, but that's how this business goes. We just take things one project at a time and try to be honest about what can be done and what can't. It’s a steady way to work and it keeps us busy. There is always a new problem to solve.
