Ell-Vee Silk Mills has been around for a while now, focusing on the textile world. We don't have a fixed street address listed for our main office right now, as we spend most of our time between the different production areas and the markets where the fabric actually moves. Silk is a tricky thing to work with; it’s delicate but requires a lot of heavy lifting and noisy machinery to get it right. Our days are filled with the sound of looms and the sight of raw threads being turned into something useful. We aren't a high-fashion house with models and runways. We are more about the grit of the mill, the dust, and the constant effort it takes to keep the quality steady. There’s a lot of history in silk, and we try to respect that while just doing our daily jobs. We have people who have been working with these fabrics for years, and they know the feel of the thread better than any computer could. It’s a traditional kind of business in many ways. We spend a lot of time checking the weave and making sure the dyes have taken properly. It’s slow work sometimes, and it can be frustrating when a machine breaks down or the raw materials aren't up to scratch. But we just keep at it, roll after roll, making sure the mills stay running. It is what we know and what we do.
