We are over here at Vissannapeta, doing our thing at Jaikishan Vissannapeta Farmer Producer Company Limited. The office is right at 2-41 in Kasimkota Mandal, near Bayyavaram. It is a quiet place most days until the harvest starts coming in and then things get real busy. We got together because selling crops alone was getting harder every year. Prices go up and down and the middle men take so much of what we earn. So a bunch of us from around this area decided to just do it ourselves. We don't have a big fancy office or anything, just this space here where we meet up and talk about what needs doing for the season. Sometimes the rain does not come when it should and that is a worry we all share around here. Most of us have been farming these lands since we were kids, following what our fathers did. It is hard work, getting out there when the sun is barely up and staying until it is dark. We handle the seeds and the stuff we need for the soil together now. It makes more sense to buy things in bulk so we save a little money. We are just local people trying to make a living and keep the farms going for the next generation. If you come by the Mandal, you will see us working. We don't use big words. We just want to make sure the crops get sold and we get a fair shake.
