Womaniya Welfare Foundation

We are over here in Rohini Sector 25, right in the middle of a residential pocket. The office for Womaniya Welfare Foundation is basically just the ground floor of house 163 and 164 in Pocket 6. It is not some fancy corporate building with big glass doors or a lobby. Most days, it is quite busy with women from the nearby streets coming in to talk about their problems or just get some help with basic paperwork. We started this because we saw a lot of things that needed fixing right here in our own neighborhood. There is always tea on the stove and someone sitting on the plastic chairs waiting for something. It gets a bit noisy when the morning market starts up nearby, but that is just how Delhi is. We don’t have a big team of experts, just a few of us who grew up around here and wanted to do something useful for the ladies in the community. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just sit outside on the porch to finish the work. It is simple work, really. We help out where we can, whether it is about health or just helping someone figure out how to fill a government form. People know where to find us because we have been in this house for a while now. It is just a local spot where anyone can walk in without feeling like they need to be someone important or wealthy.
