Super Castings

Working at Super Castings down here on Plot No.A-72, Gt Karnal Road, you get used to the noise. The Gt Karnal Road is always busy with trucks, and the dust from the Singhu area settles on everything if you don’t wipe it down every few hours. We’ve got our furnace and the casting equipment set up in the back. It’s hot work, especially in the summer months when the air just stays still inside the shed. We spend most of our time looking at molds and making sure the metal is pouring right. There isn't much to look at in our office, just an old table and some chairs where we sit to eat our lunch. Most of the guys have been here for years, so we all know how the machines sound when they’re running properly. If something breaks, we fix it ourselves right there on the floor. It’s a messy job, and our clothes are usually covered in grease or sand by the end of the shift. We don’t spend money on fancy signs or advertising because folks in the industry already know we are here in this corner of the industrial patch. Sometimes the power goes out and we just sit outside by the gate until it comes back on, watching the traffic go by toward Delhi. It’s basic, honest work, and we just keep at it day after day.
