About Slumscare India Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in North West Delhi
You can find us at House No. 360 in Block-O of Mangolpuri. This neighborhood is always crowded and there is always something going on in the streets. Our house is right in the middle of it. It’s a small place, really just a couple of rooms where we keep our stuff. The walls are painted a pale blue that’s starting to fade. There is a big wooden door that stays open most of the day so the breeze can come through, though it mostly just brings in the noise from the busy street. Children are always running around outside and the local vendors shout out their prices all morning long. It’s not the quietest place to work, but it’s real. We have a couple of old computers and a printer that jams every third page. We spend a lot of time sitting on the floor or on small stools because there isn’t much room for big chairs. The neighborhood knows us, and we know them. People come by to complain about the water or to show us some papers they don’t understand. We aren’t experts in everything, but we listen. It’s a bit cramped when more than three people are inside at once. The floor is concrete and stays cool even when it’s hot outside. We don’t have any fancy posters on the wall, just a calendar and maybe a map of the local area. It’s just a house in Mangolpuri where we stay busy.
