Silver Designs

Wazirpur is a loud place, especially around the Group Industrial Area where we are located at A-131. Silver Designs is right in the middle of all that noise and activity. Every morning, the sound of metal being worked on starts up and doesn't really stop until late. Our space is mostly taken up by the workshop floor where the actual making happens. It’s often a bit dusty and smells like industrial cleaning agents. We focus on various silver pieces, mostly items that take a lot of hands-on work. There are benches covered in small tools, pliers, and polishing cloths. The lighting isn't great, so we have these extra lamps clipped to the tables. We don’t have a big front office or a reception area with flowers. If you come by, you’ll probably find someone in an apron covered in grime. We drink a lot of coffee to stay sharp through the shifts. Sometimes we run out of packing boxes and someone has to run down the street to borrow some from the neighbor. It’s a bit of a scramble most days. We keep a logbook for the silver weights and it’s usually sitting on a pile of old newspapers. It’s a practical environment. We don’t spend money on fancy paint for the walls because they just get dirty again. We are just here to make things and get them shipped out to the people who ordered them. It is just honest work.
