Shree Balaji Confectionery

If you walk down Tri Nagar and look for number 1433/98, you’ll find us. It’s just a small confectionery shop, nothing too special to look at from the outside. I spend most of my day behind the counter, rearranging jars of candies and packets of biscuits. The kids from the neighborhood come in after school with their small change, and that’s usually the busiest part of my afternoon. It gets a bit chaotic with everyone wanting something different at the same time. I try to keep everything in its place, but the shelves always seem to get messy by the evening. Shree Balaji has been here in this lane for a good while. I know most of the families around here. Sometimes someone will come in just for a loaf of bread and end up talking about the weather for ten minutes. The shop isn’t very big, so when more than three people come in, it feels a bit tight. I don't have any big plans to change things. I like the way it is. The light in here is a bit dim, and the fan makes a clicking sound, but it’s home to me. Every morning I open the shutters and sweep the front. It’s just a regular life. We have the usual snacks and sweets that people need. Nothing fancy, just the basic stuff that keeps a house running.
