Our shop is number 115, right in the middle of the Ashok Vihar Phase I Market. It’s at 28/115, so it’s easy enough to find if you know the market well. It’s a small space, mostly just a couple of desks, some chairs for people to sit on, and a whole lot of travel brochures that have been there since who knows when. We spend a lot of time on the phone here, talking to airlines or checking bus schedules for people who want to go out of town. The market outside is always noisy with people shopping for groceries or clothes, and that energy kind of spills into our shop. Sometimes we just sit and have tea with the other shopkeepers when things are slow in the afternoon. We don’t have a big fancy office with glass walls, just a regular market shop where we handle bookings and travel plans. The walls have a few maps pinned up, and there’s always a calendar with dates circled in red. We’ve been operating from this market for quite a bit, so we see a lot of the same faces coming back year after year. It’s a straightforward job, really. We just sit here, answer the phone, and try to get people where they need to go without too much trouble. It gets a bit crowded on weekends when everyone has time to come in and talk about their holiday plans. We usually stay open until the market starts to quiet down.
