If you drive around Sector-8 in Rohini, you’ll likely pass our spot on the dividing road. It’s a busy corner and there is always some car parked out front waiting for a tire change or an alignment check. We have been working here for a while now, and the floor is usually covered in some bit of grease or dust from the road. The machines make a lot of noise when they are balancing the wheels, so we end up shouting to hear each other over the clatter. It is not a quiet office job; it is mostly about getting your hands dirty and making sure the bolts are tight. We have a couple of jacks that have seen better days but they still lift just fine. Sometimes people come in with a flat tire and they are in a huge rush, so we have to move fast. Other times, it is just routine maintenance that takes a bit longer. The sun hits the front of the shop pretty hard in the afternoons, making it hot under the metal roof. We usually have a pot of tea going in the corner for when there is a short break between cars. It is basic work, really, just making sure everything is straight and the rubber is good. We don't have a waiting lounge with a TV, just a few plastic chairs for anyone who wants to sit while we finish up the work.
