The shop is tucked away in Gali No 2 in Rani Bagh, right near Sri Nagar and Shakur Basti. If you’ve ever tried to bring a big truck down these lanes, you know it’s a bit of a squeeze. We deal with paper every day, reams and reams of it piled up everywhere you look. It’s a simple business really, just buying and selling paper to folks who need it for printing or whatever else they’re doing. The walls are mostly hidden by stacks of white and colored sheets. Sometimes the smell of the paper is the first thing you notice when you walk in from the street. We’ve got the address Wz-141, and it’s usually pretty hectic around here with people moving boxes and loading up rickshaws. There’s no big corporate office here, just a desk with a calculator and a lot of pens that always seem to go missing. We see a lot of the same faces every week, people from the neighborhood who’ve been coming here for years. It’s a loud area, lots of shouting and horns honking outside, but inside we just focus on getting the orders right. It isn’t always organized perfectly, but we know where everything is kept. When the power goes out, we just sit on the steps and wait. It is a bit dusty and crowded, but that is just how Rani Bagh is most days of the week. We just keep stacking the paper.
