North Delhi Diabetic Centre

North Delhi Diabetic Centre is situated at 180, Jai Appartment in Rohini Sector 9. It’s quite easy to find if you look for Metro Pillar No 417; we are right on the side of it. Being so close to the metro line means the sound of the trains is something we hear all day long. The centre is part of a residential apartment building, so it feels a bit more like a home than a sterile hospital. We have a lot of regular patients who come in to get their sugar levels checked or to talk about their diet. The waiting area is just a converted room with some chairs lined up against the wall. We have a lot of charts and pamphlets about diabetes sitting on the side tables, though most people just want to get their blood drawn and head home. The light in the rooms is a bit dim because of the way the building is shaded by the metro tracks. We keep things simple here. There’s no big reception desk, just a small counter where we handle the billing and the reports. In the afternoons, it gets a bit quiet when the metro traffic thins out. Most of our visitors are older folks from the Jai Appartment complex or the nearby blocks in Sector 9. It’s a local place where we know many of our patients' histories by heart and we just do our daily work.
