Irpmu-(Indian Railway Project Management Unit)

The Indian Railway Project Management Unit, or Irpmu as people call it, is based out of Karala in Delhi. We are at House Number 1348. It’s a village area so it’s a bit of a drive from the main city center, but it’s where we are set up. Working on railway projects involves a lot of moving parts and coordination. This house serves as our base for getting the planning and management sorted out. It’s not a typical government building you might see in Central Delhi. It’s more practical. There’s a lot of talk about tracks, schedules, and materials every day. We spend a lot of time on the phone or looking at charts. The Delhi heat in the summer makes the office feel a bit cramped, but we make do with what we have. People come and go, mostly staff and contractors. The roads in Karala can be a bit rough sometimes, especially when it rains. We’ve been here at 110081 for a while and the locals know us. It’s a lot of paperwork and technical stuff that doesn’t sound very exciting to most people. We just focus on keeping things moving. There’s always another project or a deadline coming up. We don't have a big reception area or anyone to greet you at the door. It's just a place where work happens. Most of us just want to finish the day and get home.
