India Shoe Mart

Our shop is located at 313/37 in Indralok, and you can see the metro station from our front door. Being this close to the station means there is a constant stream of people walking past our window from early morning until late at night. We sell all kinds of footwear, mostly things that people need for their everyday walk to work or for school kids. The shelves are packed with boxes of sandals, boots, and sneakers. Sometimes the boxes get a bit mixed up when customers are trying on different pairs, so we spend a lot of time re-organizing the piles. The floor is just simple tile and we have a few old benches for people to sit on while they check the fit. It’s not a fancy boutique by any means. It’s just a regular shoe mart where you can find something decent without a lot of fuss. We’ve been in this same spot for years, and we’ve seen the metro bring a lot more life to this street. The shop gets quite dusty because of all the traffic outside, so we have to wipe down the display shoes every morning. We know a lot of the local families who come back to us whenever their children grow out of their current shoes. It’s a steady kind of life here. We don't do big advertisements. We just keep the doors open and help whoever walks in looking for a new pair of shoes. It's a simple business.
