Enable2Empower Foundation

We are situated in Pitampura at 31 Apna Ghar Society, which is a residential part of North West Delhi. Enable2Empower Foundation started right in our living rooms before we got this small space to work from. Being in a housing society like Apna Ghar means we are surrounded by families of all kinds. We noticed that many young people and women in the surrounding areas had the will to work but didn't have the right tools or bits of knowledge to get started. So, we started helping them out. It isn't a massive operation with a board of directors. It’s mostly just us and a few volunteers who live nearby. We help people learn simple skills or find local jobs so they can look after themselves. The office is usually cluttered with training materials and old computers we’ve fixed up. We don't have a lot of formal meetings. Usually, someone just drops by with a problem and we talk it over with a cup of tea. It’s a very local way of doing things. We know most of the people who come to us by their first names. Delhi is a huge city and it can feel very cold and uncaring if you don't have a support system. We try to be that system for the folks around Pitampura. We don't have a lot of money, but we have time and we know the local area well enough to be useful.
