If you ever find yourself in Block-L of Mangolpuri, you might run into us at House No. 2. That’s where Bhra Social Work Foundation is based. We’ve been in this spot for some time now, and most people around here know who we are. It’s a small space, but it’s enough for what we need to do. We aren’t some huge organization with branches everywhere; we are just local folks trying to help out where we can. Social work sounds like a big term, but for us, it’s just about looking after the people in our own street and the blocks nearby. Mangolpuri is a tight-knit place, and news travels fast here. We don't spend money on advertising because we’d rather use whatever we have for the work itself. You’ll usually find a few of us drinking tea and talking about the next project or how to help a neighbor. It’s not always easy, and sometimes we run into hurdles, but we just keep going. The building is a regular house, nothing fancy, which makes it easier for people to just walk in and talk to us. We don't like all that formal stuff. We just want to be useful. Life in Delhi can be tough for a lot of people, so having a place like this in the middle of Block-L feels right. We just take things one day at a time, trying to be a positive presence.
