Abhishke Barten

Our shop, Abhishke Barten, is situated in Rohini. We deal with all kinds of kitchen utensils, like steel pots, pans, and plates. Rohini is a huge area and there are so many sectors, but our little corner is always humming with the sound of metal clinking. When you walk into the shop, you’ll see stacks of stainless steel reaching almost to the ceiling. It can be a bit overwhelming if you aren't used to it. We spend a lot of time polishing the brass items or organizing the cookers and spoons. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We don't use any fancy computer systems for our inventory; we mostly just remember where we put things or check the boxes. The floor is usually covered in cardboard from new shipments that come in during the week. Customers usually come in looking for something specific for their kitchen, and we spend time helping them find the right size or weight. It gets especially busy during the festival seasons when everyone wants to buy new things for their homes. Outside, the traffic of Rohini is always there in the background, but inside it’s all about the hardware. We’ve got a couple of guys who help with the heavy lifting because those crates of utensils can get quite heavy. It’s hard work and the shop gets hot in the summer, but it’s what we do.
