Sharani Improvement Foundation

Sharani Improvement Foundation is based in a village called Nakuadaha. We are located at Rabindra Nath Biswas’s place, care of Jatindra Nath Biswas. This is in the Itinda post office area, under the Basirhat police station in North 24 Parganas. Our pin code is 743292. Being in a place like Nakuadaha means we are deep in the rural parts of West Bengal. It is a quiet area, mostly surrounded by fields and small houses. Our office reflects that—it is very modest and tucked away. We do not have a lot of the modern equipment you might find in a city office. We rely on simple tools and a lot of manual work to keep the Sharani Improvement Foundation moving. The walk to the office can be quite dusty in the summer and muddy when the monsoons hit, but that is just how it is in Basirhat. We do not mind it much. The atmosphere here is very friendly; everyone knows everyone else. We do not have set corporate hours in the strict sense, but someone is usually around to help out or answer questions. It is a very human way of doing things. We keep our paperwork in order as best as we can and focus on the tasks at hand. It is not a polished operation, but we put in the time and effort every single day.
