Alo Manufactering Garments

Up here in Kanchrapara, the sound of sewing machines is basically the background noise of our lives. Alo Manufactering Garments is located in a part of North 24 Parganas that stays pretty active from dawn until dusk. We have a lot of fabric rolls stacked up in the corners, and sometimes it feels like there isn't enough space to walk between the work tables. We make clothes for all sorts of local orders. It isn't glamorous work, but it keeps a lot of families going in this area. The lights in the workshop are bright so we don't miss any stitches when the sun goes down. In the summer, it gets really hot under the tin roof, so we have those big industrial fans blowing all day long. They make a lot of noise, but you get used to it after a week or two. We don’t really have a front desk or a fancy reception for visitors. If you walk in, you’ll probably just see someone cutting patterns or checking the finished shirts for loose threads. We’ve had some of the same people working here for a long time. They know the machines better than anyone else does. Kanchrapara is a place where people work hard, and we are no different from our neighbors. Sometimes we get a rush order and have to stay late, but we usually manage to get everything packed and ready for the next day.
