Sumitra Tea Products

Sumitra Tea Products is located out here in Sonabil Bagaan, which is just past the post office in Sunitpur. Being out in the plantation area means our days start pretty early, usually before the sun is even fully up. You can hear the birds and the sound of the workers getting ready. It’s a lot of manual work, honestly. We have to look at the tea that comes in and make sure it’s handled right before it goes into the packets. The building we use isn't anything special to look at, just a practical space where we can keep the tea dry and out of the rain. Sunitpur can get quite wet during the monsoon season, so we spend a lot of time checking the roof for leaks and making sure the floor stays dry. People around here know us as just another part of the local tea landscape. We don’t have a big office or anything like that. It’s mostly just a couple of rooms with a lot of tea dust in the air. We sit at the wooden table to do the accounts every evening. Sometimes the tea bags stack up pretty high and we have to be careful walking through the narrow aisles. It’s a quiet life for the most part, away from the big city noise. We just focus on what’s in front of us at the Bagaan.
