Walkes Diagnostic Centre

Walkes Diagnostic Centre is on the first floor of the Trinity Apartments. It is very close to the market in Bicholim, so it is a convenient spot for people doing their shopping to stop by. Being on the first floor means you have to go up the stairs, which are right by the main entrance. The apartments are a well-known building in this neighborhood. Inside the center, we have the area where we collect samples and the lab where the testing happens. It is a clean space, mostly white and grey. We have a lot of glass tubes and needles and machines for the blood work. The waiting area is small, with just a few rows of chairs. You can hear the sounds of the Bicholim market from the windows if they are open—people shouting and bikes going by. We start very early because most people need to do their tests before they eat breakfast. The staff spends the first hour of the day getting the labels ready and checking the machines. It is a lot of repetitive work, but it has to be done carefully. We have a small desk where you pick up your results the next day. The staff is local and we speak the local language with everyone who comes in. It is a simple, honest operation that has been part of the Bicholim market area for a while.
