V M Salgaocar Hospital

You’ll find us off Airport Road in Chicalim. It’s a bit of a trek for some, but being near the airport means we see a lot of different people. The sound of the planes taking off is something you just get used to after a week of working here. The hospital is spread out a bit, and we have a lot of greenery around the entrance which helps keep the place feeling a bit cooler in the summer. The parking lot is always a bit of a puzzle, especially on Mondays when everyone seems to have an appointment at the same time. Inside, the hallways are wide, but we’ve tucked benches everywhere because people always need a place to sit. The staff mostly lives nearby in Chicalim or Vasco, so we’re all pretty local. We have a small desk near the entrance where someone usually sits to tell people which way to go, because the signs aren’t always as clear as they should be. The air conditioning in the main lobby is a bit temperamental, so we often have the big fans going to keep the air moving. It’s a busy environment, and sometimes the paperwork gets piled up on the desks, but we get through it. We aren’t a high-rise city hospital, just a solid place in the neighborhood where things get done. Most of the people who come here have been doing so for years, and they know the doctors by their first names.
