Being on the third floor of the Mahalakshmi building on Dr Dada Vaidya Road means we get a decent view of the street below, even if the stairs are a bit of a workout when the lift is acting up. Upeca Impex Llp is based right here in Panaji. It’s one of those parts of town where there is always something happening. You hear the horns and the people shouting all day long. The office itself is pretty simple. We have a few cupboards that have seen better days and some chairs that squeak if you sit the wrong way. Most of us have worked here for a while, so we know which desk gets the draft from the window and which one stays too hot. It’s North Goa, so the humidity is just part of the furniture. We handle a lot of the import and export paperwork here. It involves a lot of waiting for people to call back and checking the mail. We don't have a big corporate lobby with a receptionist. Usually, whoever is closest to the door just opens it. We focus on getting the day's tasks done so we can head home before the evening traffic gets really bad. Panaji can be a nightmare to drive through at 6 PM. We just do our thing, keep the files in order, and try to make sure nothing gets lost in the shuffle of a busy workday.
