The Mango Tree Trust

The Mango Tree Trust is based at House No 148/3, which we call The Mango House. It’s over in Mapusa, Goa. It’s a real house, not a cold office building. When you come to 403507, you’ll see it’s a place with a lot of history in the walls. We have mango trees around, which I guess is why it’s named that. It gets very green during the monsoon season. We spend our days here working on different things for the trust. It’s a quiet life in Mapusa compared to the beach areas. We have people coming in and out all the time. Sometimes it’s a bit messy with papers and books everywhere, but that’s just how we work. We don’t have a receptionist in a uniform. Usually, whoever is near the door just lets people in. We drink a lot of tea and talk about what needs to be done. Being in Goa, things move a bit slower sometimes, but we get there. The house 148/3 is our base for everything. We’ve been here for a while and the neighbors know us. It’s just a small group of people trying to do something useful. We don’t have a big mission statement on the wall. We just show up and do the work. The house feels like a home to most of us. That’s pretty much the story of The Mango Tree Trust. It is a simple setup with a lot of heart and some old wooden furniture.
